You will also want either the Crystal Ball or Ammo Box buff items, or an appropriate Flask for melee (I suggest Ichor), to support your playstyle.įor magic, the laser disco ball from moon lord is probably your best general option - fire in spurts where possible rather than constant full laser, you have nowhere near the mana to sustain it. For YOUR weapon, you'll want something with good range and either no resource usage (the Solar melee weapons are both good, but spear is probably better here due to range the Terrarian is better still if you have it, especially with the final compiled accessory) or at least manageable resource usage (Celestial Cuffs to enable magic usage, or a Quiver for ranged). You can (and should) additionally use Lunar Portal or Rainbow Crystal staves - their stationary minions don't use up minion count but do scale with summon damage, so it's basically just free DPS. Stardust Dragon is the only real option for summons, though UFOs and cells are ghetto usable, just worse. On Expert mode you can probably just add the worm scarf for the damage reduction, you'll need it. I personally would just go Warding on all of them since it helps a lot with survival (your job is mostly to stay alive after all, and stardust armor has TERRIBLE defense, 8 less than even the mage armor wtf). If you plan on using magic to support your minions, Celestial Cuffs are essentially required to keep Mana anywhere near usable in extended battles. Accessories Papyrus Scarab, Necromantic Scroll, Pygmy Necklace, Hercules Beetle, and Celestial Shell are probably your best options, though you could drop the herc beetle for wings or other 'utility' accessories if you don't have UFO mount or just need something else (Ankh Shield for example is awesome).
